The saga surrounding the arrest and questioning of Gatundu South legislator Moses Kuria over hate speech has taken a new spin after he alleged that he was being used as a conduit to arrest former Machakos Senator, Johnstone Muthama.
In a Facebook video post by Dennis Itumbi, Kuria stated that he was arrested as a ‘bridge’ to get Senator Muthama.
“You can’t arrest a single person without having Moses Kuria arrested as well. Moses Kuria has refused the idea that he is the one who will always be used as a bridge so that someone can be arrested,” said Kuria.
He added that he had met the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) chair Francis Kaparo who reportedly told him that his remarks did not amount to hate speech.
“The statement in question was uttered a week ago; a whole week has gone by. I had a meeting with Kaparo and asked him about it and he said there was no aspect of hate speech in my utterance.
“Now that Muthama talked, you can’t arrest Muthama without arresting Moses Kuria as well. There is no point arresting an innocent man so as to get a guilty one.
“Moses Kuria has kids who have kids who have access to internet and they get this infrmationo and they obviously don’t like these things. This isn’t good,” reiterated Kuria.
Kuria and Muthama were arrested separately on Monday the 11th and interrogated for hours at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.
