Ten police officers have been quarantined in a hospital in Rongai after showing cholera symptoms.
The officers were part of a team that had been camping in hostels at the Multimedia University ready for action over the Supreme Court ruling.
Police said the victims started to complain of stomach pain and diarrhea before they were rushed to Sinai Hospital where they were admitted.
Nairobi County health executive Bernard Muia said the officers had been quarantined at the hospital as further tests are run on them.
“We don’t know where they got their food but further tests and investigations are being conducted to contain any spread,” he said.
The officers had been mobilized and housed at the university to act in case any form of violence broke out, their colleagues say.
Cases of outbreak of cholera have been rampant and on increase in Nairobi because of many issues including contaminated food.
Authorities reacted temporarily closing down places where the victims ate the food.
