A Senior Administration Police officer has lost his life after a vehicle he was traveling in ran over a homemade bomb in Mararani area, Lamu.
The officer was not alone during the Sunday, September 10,explosion said to be the works of outlawed terror group Al Shabaab.
Six other police officers who were aboard the same vehicle suffered serious injuries following the bomb attack.
Confirming the incident Coast region police boss Larry King said the officers met their Ill fates after their car ran over an IED that had been set on the road.
The incident came barely hours before Al Shabaab terrorists claimed the lives of several Somali officers in Bulla Hawo.
As reported by TUKO.co.ke earlier, Al Shabaab militants attacked Mandera town in the night of Monday, September 11, leading to a heavy gun battle with police.
The fight spilled over to Bulla Hawo town as police engaged the militant.
