Celebrated Kenyan singer turned politician Charles Njagua Kanyi alias Jaguar is one of the richest local celebrities in Kenya.
The lad, famed for his numerous philanthropic drives recently stumbled upon a scandal that did not only leave two dead, but also a serious police case.
It all started when a certain lady, identified as Wamuyu Wanjiru Everlyne hit two people ,a boda boda rider, Peter Mugo, 27, and his female passenger, Sinfolian Maingi, 25 ,a bar attendant with Jaguar’s Range Rover along the busy Nairobi-Meru highway, killing them on the spot. The accident occurred on Sunday, March 19 2017.
However, according to eye-witnesses, Jaguar rushed to the scene of the accident immediately after the incident and claimed responsibility, letting the lass off the hook.
The accident sparked outrage among Kenyans who came out in large numbers to call for Jaguar’s immediate arrest. Well, the public outrage has finally been dealt with in one of the most ‘just’ ways.
The ‘Kigeugeu’ hit maker was recently arraigned in court to answer to careless driving charge.
The case was heard at Kirinyaga Court where Jaguar strongly denied the charges. Jaguar was released on a KSh 50,000 bond.
The court’s ruling comes barely days after police officers in Mwea, Kirinyaga County were put on blast for trying to cover up the accident in favor of the singer.
According to reports reaching TUKO.co.ke, a cross section of the Kenyan public is not happy with the development of the case.
Countless people claim Jaguar is using his connections in the government to get off the cuffs.
