There has been an 11th hour change to the match venues for matches scheduled to be played tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday.
The Machakos Stadium has been ruled out of hosting Cecafa matches for the next three days after being hampered by the ongoing rains.
The Stadium which was renovated recently was scheduled to host matches on Monday and Tuesday. However, Cecafa LOC has moved Monday’s matches to City Stadium while Tuesday matches will be played at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru. The Afraha pitch will as well host matches on Wednesday.
“We will assess Machakos Stadium on Wednesday and make a decision on whether we will have matches played there or not. If the condition will not have improved we will have the games at Nyayo,” Cecafa Secretary Nicholas Musonye told Goal.
The Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos has so far hosted only three matches, but the state of the playing surface was greatly destroyed due to the heavy rains. Nyayo Stadium will also be closed down for the next three days to allow the ground to rehabilitate.
On Monday at City Stadium, Sudan plays Rwanda at 2pm while Uganda face Eritrea. In Afraha on Tuesday, South Sudan plays Ethiopia while Kenya will take on Zanzibar.
