She might be pregnant wit her first child, but the writers on Kerry Washington's hit show Scandal aren't letting her changing figure affect her character's wardrobe.
As the 36-year-old star got to work shooting scenes for new episodes of the programme in Los Angeles on Monday, Kerry's growing bump was cleverly hidden beneath a loose-fitting coat in her character Olivia Pope's signature colour - white.
The coat featured chic piping and shiny silver buttons down the front, with the wardrobe team choosing a pair of wide-legged black trousers and sky-high black heels.
She finished off her look with a black Prada handbag and leather gloves, with her raven hair in a sleek, straight bob.
Kerry was seen shooting scenes alongside co-star Bellamy Young, who plays the President's wife Mellie Grant in the show.
And while the pair looked in good spirits, laughing and joking their way through the scenes, the nature of their sudden truce is likely to cause confusion among fans of the show.
The latest episodes of Scandal have seen Olivia rekindle her romance with President Grant, and Mellie encouraging Fitz to re-employ his lover as his political campaign manager ahead of the next election.
And judging by the images of Olivia and frenemy Mellie laughing up a storm, it seems as though political 'fixer' Olivia has accepted the role.
Kerry and Bellamy are believed to have been shooting scenes for the latter part of season 3 of the show, which will start airing again on February 27th after the mid-season finale this week.
It was reported recently that ABC have cut episodes for season four of the show, reducing it from 22 to 18 episodes.
Although the network has not given a reason for the cutback, many speculate that Washington's real-life pregnancy had an impact on the decision.
If writers do not plan on writing her pregnancy into the storyline, hiding her delicate condition might prove an obstacle best avoided by scribes and producers of the show.
Kerry announced in October that she and husband NFL star Nnamdi Asomugha are expecting their first child together.
Since its debut on April 5, 2012, the Shonda Rhimes-created drama has been steadily growing in viewers, winning its timeslot on an almost regular basis.
In 2013, Washington nabbed an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of bureaucratic beauty Pope.
