KCB's prolific striker Jacob Keli was crowned the best player of the 2013 season at a colourful Kenyan Premier League awards ceremony in Nairobi on Wednesday.
The diminutive striker also bagged the golden boot award after scoring 17 goals in the season to cap off a memorable night that left the player in tears.
”These are tears of joy. I can’t express how I feel tonight. This is like a dream come true and I dedicate my awards to my son Remy. He is my inspiration,” said Keli.
Keli beat a field of five that included David Owino of Gor Mahia who was the front runner to win the prestigious award. Shaban Kenga was the first runners up while Owino came third.
It was a rewarding night for KCB who won six awards with coach Abdalla Juma winning the Coach of the year, Brian Osumba the midfielder of the year, Joseph Okal manager of the year while goalkeeper Sammy Okinda was the runner up in the keepers category.
