But says his ambitions will only come to pass if Raila becomes President in 2017
This weekend, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho lashed at Deputy President William Ruto and his presidential ambitions.
The ODM deputy party leader spoke in Eastleigh, Nairobi, where he promised to give William Ruto a run for his money come 2022.
“Nakwambia kwa hii serikali ya Raila nitatambaa mimi. (I am the guy to watch in Raila Odinga’s government),” He said as quoted by The Standard.
In tow were other National Super Alliance leaders including Junet Mohamed, Nairobi Woman representative Esther Passaris, and Homa bay woman rep Gladys Wanga. The leaders were on a campaign trail on behalf of their presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
It is public knowledge that Joho intends to vie for presidency in the next general election scheduled for 2022 although many have rubbished it as a pipe dream.
Meanwhile, as President Uhuru Kenyatta campaigned prior to the August 8 polls, he asked Kenyans on more than one occasion, to give him a second term before handing over the reigns of power to his deputy William Ruto.
Joho won’t have it easy in the race to be the next Nasa flag bearer as the field is already crowded with the likes of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and fellow principals Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi who also want to succeed Raila Odinga.
That however did not stop Joho to say during the Eastleigh tour on Sunday, September 10, that Ruto will be a very disappointed man when he rises to the top. He however noted that for his ambitions to materialise, Raila Odinga will first have to rise to power.
Raila and Uhuru are prepping fpr a grueling political battle come October 2017, after the Supreme Court nullified the latter’s win.
