KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion has asked the ODM party to remove his name from the parliamentary nomination list.
TUKO.co.ke has learnt that Sossion has dismissed the nomination by ODM because he has “heavy commitments at the Union” hence it would be difficult to serve a parliamentary job.
Sossion confirmed his decision during an inauguration ceremony at Baringo county.
"I was proposed for nomination on an ODM ticket to represent workers but I ask my party leader to give the chance to another person so that I can engage in more commitments to the Union,” He was quoted by Nation.
Sossion’s KNUT had, before the elections, signed an MoU with NASA leader Raila Odinga to endorse his presidency.
The MoU has the full backing of the KNUT Secretary General, Wilson Sossion, who was at the signing ceremony on Friday, August 4.
As TUKO.co.ke reported earlier, the ODM party had attempted to replace KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion with fallen Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto in the nomination list.
Raila Odinga's party has made attempts to have Ruto in parliament as a nominated MP after he was defeated by Jubilee's Joyce Laboso in the recently concluded polls.
The move, however, has been opposed by a section of ODM members who believe it will be an injustice to those already nominated.
Should Ruto miraculously find himself in parliament, he will assume the role of leader of minority.
