A Kenyatta University student suspected to be behind the cold blood murder of his girlfriend in Kahawa Wendani has been arrested while enjoying a holiday in Malindi.
TUKO.co.ke has learnt that the suspect, Mohammed Wairimu, was found using the victim's car and ATM cards two weeks after she was found murdered in her house and her body parts stashed in a refrigerator.
The victim was identified as Irene Kananu Maitethia and was a human resource manager at an organisation along Thika Road.
Kananu was found killed on March 31 and her boyfriend who lives in the same flat was not present.
Police immediately commenced investigations and the suspect was found in Malindi on Sunday, April 9.
This is the second time a murder incident is reported in Kahawa Wendani, an estate that houses students from Kenyatta University.
In 2016, a man believed to have worked before in the Kenya military murdered his girlfriend and tried to kill himself after locking the house from inside.
The man was found bleeding with the girlfriend lifeless and tied to the bed.
