He moved to widow's home after chasing wife, selling his land

A man in his early 40s is in pain after his genitals were severed by his lover while he was asleep in Kirinyaga.

He had moved to the widow's home after allegedly chasing his wife and selling his land.

The man from Kang’aru village in Kirinyaga West sub-county was reported to have been assaulted by the widow while asleep after a drinking binge.

The victim’s parents said their son had left his matrimonial home after selling his half-acre parcel at Sh420,000.

Witnesses said he was befriended by the widow from Thumaita village where they had been living as lovers until last Sunday.

"My son left our home some time ago after he sold his inheritance land against our will as his parents and after hurling insults at us," claimed his elderly parents.

The parents said after learning about the assault they attempted to seek treatment for their son.

"We learnt with dismay of the brutal assault on our son but since he is in such dire need of medication, we have forgiven him and we're ready to take him back home," his father said.

There were allegations that the Sunday night assault was as a result of the man's inability to provide for the widow to the high standards she was accustomed to since he had exhausted the money from the sale of land.

The man was said to have come to the widow’s house drunk and slept. The woman then picked a knife and cut off his genitals before fleeing.

The matter was reported to the police on Monday after which efforts to get the man treatment were made.

Area OCPD Cecily Gatititi said a hunt for the assailant had been launched, adding that the suspect could not escape since she was well known.

The victim was said to be struggling to get some emergency operation but it was not possible due to the ongoing nurses' strike.
