Radamel Falcao will miss AS Monaco's Ligue 1 Conforama showdown with Olympique Lyonnais on Friday after playing for his country during the international break.
The Colombia international, 31, scored in the 2-1 FIFA World Cup qualifying defeat to Paraguay last week and then played in the 1-1 draw in Peru on Tuesday to help secure his nation's place in next summer's finals in Russia.
Ever-present for the French champions so far this season, Falcao will not get a chance to add to his league-leading 12 goals with coach Leonardo Jardim opting to rest him for the match at Parc OL.
"He played [on Tuesday night], and there was a lot of travelling," Jardim, whose second-placed side are three points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain, told media. "To try and play at Lyon could 'kill' him. He won't play. Anyway, his physical condition won't allow him to play two matches in 48 hours."
