Churchill donates proceeds from Ayeiya special recording to family

Yesterday, on Thursday, April 20, current and former Churchill Show comedians led by their ‘father’, Daniel Ndambuki aka Churchill, held an emotional show at the Carnivore Grounds meant to honour their fallen colleague Emmanuel Makori alias Ayeiya or AKA.

Ayeiya sadly passed away on the morning of Good Friday, April the 14th, in a grisly road accident on Magadi road in Nairobi. He was going home in the company of his wife, a fellow comedian and an actor.

On the said Thursday, The Churchill Show fraternity and Kenyans from all walks of life gathered at the Carnivore Grounds where they honoured the late Ayeiya in the most memorable way.

Apart from lighting candles, comedians also put up their best acts including replaying the popular comedian’s best moments while he was still alive. The Carnivore was full of Ayeiya’s vibe.

For starters, comedian Chipukeezy brought back memories of the late comic and touched countless hearts in the process, the moment he entered the stage to honour Ayeiya in the tribute show.

Chipukeezy, whose career was first built on Churchill Show before leaving, rekindled Ayeiya’s memories in one of the most dramatic ways. He mimicked everything about Ayeiya including his demeanour on stage.

The Kiss Fm host entered the stage wearing Ayeiya’s signature cap and a briefcase with ‘AKA’ printed on it – just like Ayeiya’s.

The Mlolongo born and bred comic even delivered jokes just as Ayeiya. The late cracked ribs on the same stage just last week, hours before his passing.

But what has touched many is the decision by Churchill and his team to direct all the proceeds from the show to Ayeiya’s young family.

The fallen comedian will be buried at his parents’ home in Kisii today (Friday, April 21).
