Did some Nairobi Jubilee MPs gang up to assault Embakasi East MP Babu Owino for insulting president Uhuru Kenyatta?
Grapevine has established that Owino who was involved in a scuffle with Starehe MP Charles Njagua alias Jaguar at the media centre, was advised against venturing into the main parliamentary chambers, amidst claims that a plot had been hatched to beat him up.
The former student leader should be counting his lucky stars because had he been lured into the chambers, away from the glare of the cameras-he would have been ‘sorted’ while other opposition MPs were away at a press conference called by Raila Odinga.
Still on matters National Assembly, it seems it is only a matter of time before the honourable house degenerates to a jungle, where no decorum or rules apply.
With this unprecedented dishonourable’ behaviour , Grapevine foresees a situation where MPs in the ‘wanted list’ moving forward will have to be walking with their guards, just to protect themselves from their own colleagues.
It is now incumbent upon Speaker Justin Muturi and the Committee on Powers and Privileges to come up with harsh penalties to save the errant lawmakers from themselves.
